AC Leak in 2nd floor air handler closet leads to extensive damage throughout home!

Problem:

On December 21st, 2023, ServiceMaster by Glenn’s received a call from a frantic homeowner, who needed help quickly and efficiently as she had water and mold damage from an AC Leak. Unbeknownst to the homeowner, the damage was worse than originally believed as the AC leak had gone undetected for an unknown period of time, causing water damage to spread from the upstairs AC closet, through the ceiling to the downstairs laundry room, dining room, and kitchen, all the way under the flooring in the downstairs rooms.

Solution:

Our technicians got to work immediately after they realized the extent of the damage from the readings on their hygrometers and infrared scanners. Drying equipment was placed throughout the home and containment units were set up in doorways to prevent migration of the mold spores while they completed the demolition work.

UPSTAIRS DEMOLITION

  • AC closet walls, ceiling, and flooring were removed
  • Hallway baseboard and flooring were removed
  • Bathroom baseboard was removed

All areas affected were wiped down with antimicrobial to clean the current mold and prevent future growth. Equipment consisting of air movers, dehumidifiers, and air scrubbers were left to dry out any remaining moisture and decontaminate the air.
