Fort Lauderdale Flood Damage

The Problem

On April 13th and 14th, Fort Lauderdale experienced historic flooding after a torrential down-pour, causing more than 25 inches of rain in some areas of the city.

ServiceMaster by Glenn’s was called to action by a homeowner whose two houses experienced extensive damage from the floods, driving through multiple highly-flooded areas to begin the remediation process immediately.

The Solution

• All technicians and other team members arrived at the first property within a few hours, located in a neighborhood that was still significantly flooded. Most of the water had left the house by the time our team arrived, but we needed to begin extraction and demo immediately to prevent any further damage to the contents and structure.
• Before the technicians started their work, they set up a Matterport 3D Camera to capture before images of each area in the home to assist in the sketching and estimation process.
• Our team assisted in packing up contents hanging on walls and decorating the home while the owner organized professional moving services within a day to have all contents removed in preparation for the demolition process.
• Drywall, plaster, and insulation needed to be removed throughout the entire house as our thermal imaging technology detected water damage up to almost two feet in all walls.
• The kitchen and bathroom cabinetry were removed due to the water damage. Appliances and bathroom fixtures were removed as well so our technicians could remediate the areas behind them.
• Once the first home was remediated, the technicians moved onto the second home where they found extensive termite damage to the existing structure. Technicians worked tirelessly to remove any affected structure they could find, from both the flood damage and termite damage.
• Communication between our team and the homeowner was essential; our technicians and office staff kept them up to date throughout the entire process and left no questions unanswered.

• Both jobs were completed within three weeks so the homeowners could begin rebuilding their lives after this devastating flood.
